The Hidden Properties of Inertia
We rock side to side in a swell.
Belowdecks, our collected objects are strangely immobile:
ceramic bowls
the tea kettle,
drawing paper,
bits of cactus driftwood and fragments of coral and
hollowed out shells.
They waver and stream like seaweed in current,
fixed and adrift, at once.
